January 29th is the end of term two. Make sure you are up-to-date on all assignments and tests by that date. Friday, January 22nd, is a Pro-D day for teachers to look at the new curriculum, which begins in September.
I would like to wish all my students and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you in 2016!
Term 1 is officially over. Report cards will go home the end of the month. Tomorrow, November 19th, there will only be H and G blocks, as parent teacher interviews are from 1:30-3:30 and 6-8.
Next Friday (November 13th) is the end of term number 1. Make sure you are up-to-date on all your assignments and tests. Remembrance Day is on Wednesday, November 11th. There will be no school on that day. There will be a Remembrance Day assembly Tuesday morning.
Tomorrow, at the beginning of C Block, is Drop Everything and Read. Make sure you bring something to read in this block. All students will have already received and interim report card (except my Science 8 class which will receive them this week). Make sure the marks on the interim match that marks on your assignments and tests. Also remember that you can't just take an average of all the scores because some things are worth more than others. For example, in math quizzes are worth 25%, whereas the chapter tests are worth 65%. In Science the labs and assignments are 20%, quizzes 30%, and unit tests are worth 50%. Term 1 ends November 13th.
Tomorrow is WEAR BLUE DAY. Also, tomorrow after lunch will be our first Pep Rally of the year (in G Block).
Make sure you are regularly checking the pages for the subjects you have with me for important information. There are some important dates coming up. October 19th is photo retake day. We Day is October 21st. Take your kid to work day for grade 9 students is November 4th.
So we are slowly but surely getting classes settled. There still might be the odd change as classes get down to 30 or fewer students. I have had parents ask about weekly updates with marks. Teachers are no longer allowed to use reporting programs used in the past, including Jupiter Grades. We are now all expected to use MyEducationBC.
