We finished chapter 8 this week by reviewing strategies to solve the different types of equations. Make sure you are able to handle all types of questions by doing the chapter review. The chapter 8 test will be Friday for A, C and D blocks and Tuesday for block H.
We began chapter 8. The assignment last week was p.301-302 # 6-11 and some classes completed 8.1 #6-14 in the workbook. There is a quick quiz on Monday (February 29th) for A, C and D blocks and on Tuesday for H block.
8.2 p.311-312 #7-20 8.3 p. 319-320 #6-22 and Workbook 8.3 #4-7 8.4 p.327 #6-12 ***H- block, due to an assembly and talent show, will be two classes behind.*** p.260-261 #43-4 and 6-16. p. 269-270 #4-13 p. 262 # 17-19 p. 270-271 #14-18 Work book 7.1 #3-8 and 7.1 3-8a p. 275-276 # 4-14 Chapter Review p.278-279 #5-17 Chapter 7 test Wednesday, February 17th for H-Block Thursday, February 18th for A,C and D blocks. This week we continued learning about polygons, finding like terms, and adding and subtracting expressions. We completed workbook pages 58-59 # 4-10 and p. 60-61 # 4-11, as well as text pages 196-197 # 5-12 and 14 and 15. The chapter test will be Monday, January 25th for H block and Tuesday, January 26th for A,C, and D blocks.
We began our algebra unit....also know as polynomials. We learned about the make-up of polynomials (terms), how to determine the degree, and how to represent an equation using algebra tiles. The students completed #5-26 on pages 179-181. Next they will learn how to combine like terms, preparing to be able to add and subtract polynomials. The assignment for combining like terms is p.187-188 #5-12 and #16-22.
We continued learning about exponents, exponent laws and order of operations involving exponents. The assignments were page 106 and 107 #5-10, 13-19 and 21. We also completed p. 111-112 #5-12. We are getting close to the end of this chapter, so there will be a chapter test next Friday (December 4th) for A, C and D blocks and Tuesday (December 8th) for H block. Please see me before the test if you need help with anything. Remember that there are also excellent links to math help sites on my blog.
This week the students began learning about exponents and exponent laws. They completed p. 97 #4-13 and p.106 #5, 6, and 9. They will continue in this unit. The instruction sheet for the unit is below.
This week we continued practice with rational numbers. We did several practice questions, including the practice quiz below. Make sure you ask for help if you do not understand something. The final test will be Monday for Blocks A, C and D and Tuesday for Block H.
We continue calculating with rational numbers in decimal and fraction form. The practice sheets are below. We will then move on to determining square roots of rational numbers.
